Penn State Cooperative Extension in Pike County is ideally positioned to improve the lives of all county residents. Cooperative Extension engages people and communities in positive change through a unique partnership involving the entire Penn State University System, as well as the federal and county governments. This multifaceted collaboration provides educational programs that address emerging needs of Pike County residents.

While our roots are in agriculture, we are much more than that:

- We assist in the home and in the community with a range of workplace, home, and community programs. In today’s world, a myriad of social changes can strain families and undermine the health of our residents. Family Living programs give people the tools to confront today’s toughest issues in areas such as parenting, care giving, financial literacy and nutrition and food safety.

- We respond to growth and change by offering programs committed to strengthening the ability of citizens, community leaders and local officials to identify and resolve critical community needs and issues.

- We help young people through the 4-H youth development program to grow to be responsible, skilled adults. 4-H helps build skills, fuels confidence and encourages citizenship through service. That is what 4-H has done for a century.

This report is intended to give you a feel for the program efforts that have been put forth this year. We continue to be excited about our educational programs and the extent to which we are engaged with the people, organizations and businesses in Pike County.
