Food
and Crafts for Profit
Monroe
and Pike Counties continued to provide a Food and Craft for Profit
workshop this year. The focus of this years session was on sales
options and displays. In addition to the workshop portion of the day,
three tours were arranged at local food and craft businesses so that
participants could visit and see first hand what makes these businesses
successful. Thirteen people attended the workshop and identified the
following:
-
Sixty two percent
felt the information they received on sales options was very
helpful. Four people identified a new sales option and an additional
4 decided that a certain sales option was not for them.
-
The four most important
display principles that were identified were: lighting, setting
out samples, grouping like things together, and changing displays
frequently.
-
The comments made
most about what was learned from this workshop were:
-
Do your research!
Learn about the area, people and the product you plan to
market.
-
Learned new ideas
on how to get started.
-
It is a lot of
work to own your own business.
