Pike County
Penn
State Cooperative Extensions mission for more than 75 years
has been to provide research based information to the people of
Pennsylvania. Our goal is to help people use this information to
improve their lives, their families and their communities.
The backbone
of this community-based educational network is people working together
including extension agents, volunteers, and faculty sharing the
resources and expertise of Penn State with local residents.
Each
year more than 8 million people across the state participate in
Penn State Cooperative Extension seminars, workshops, conferences,
short courses, computer-assisted learning, learn-at-home programs,
and other activities. Countless others request information and guidance
from cooperative extension in making decisions. Through publications,
newspapers, radio, television, and a computer network, current information
is delivered to people where they live and work. Penn State Cooperative
Extension offers a broad range of programs in areas vital to the
quality of life in Pennsylvania including:
| Strengthening
community leadership |
Developing
youth through 4-H and leadership programs |
| Enhancing
employment opportunities |
Strengthening
individual family management skill |
| Managing
water, soil, and forest resources |
Increasing
agricultural profitability |
