75th Anniversary Celebration
of the Cooperative Extension Association of Pike County

September 26, 1999

Approximately 65 people attended the 75th Anniversary Celebration of Cooperative Extension in Pike County. Participants included current and past staff, board members, 4-H leaders and members, and dignitaries.

Michael Martin, Special Assistant to the Vice President for Outreach and Cooperative Extension at The Pennsylvania State University, presented the program “Helping Others Help Themselves — in Albania.”

As part of his Extension assignment, Michael Martin traveled to the Republic of Albania to help their Ministry of Agriculture start a 4-H youth development program for rural youth.
At the time of his experience, Albania was, perhaps, one of the least known nations on earth. Recently, however, Albania has been a major focus in the daily news for months.
Michael shared an international perspective on extension’s 4-H youth program through his personal and professional experience making life better for the rural youth of Albania. He shared human interest stories, examples of arts and crafts, and local currency.

Below are photos taken during the celebration.
